My favorite tree grows at a slight angle on the side of the gravel driveway at my family cabin. I have always been drawn to trees or flowers growing in unexpected places and see so much beauty in how they are able to flourish in an unexpected place.
As we go through life, there are often expectations placed upon us to be a certain way, from family, society, our workplace or perhaps our own self-expectations. Molding our behaviors to fit the “norm”, pushing aside any unexpected unique qualities or callings that we may be destined to bring the world. Ignoring our unique qualities may work for a while, but eventually, we recognize an internal calling, an intense desire for more. Maybe you have artistic skills but have set them aside for a corporate career. Or maybe you dream of writing a book, but put that on the back burner because your day job is too demanding.
There is beauty in the unexpected ways in which life tries to get our attention. Usually, when we aren’t paying attention to our internal calling, physical and/or emotional issues arise. Many people mask these issues with medication or other coping mechanisms. That may help for a period of time until another issue arises. Our inner wisdom is calling and we aren’t answering. I can tell you, from personal experience, that embracing the unexpected is amazing! Did I ever expect I would write and publish a book? Did I ever expect I would speak in front of large audiences about my battle with social anxiety disorder? No to both!
To be completely honest, my journey wasn’t simple. When I needed support along the way, my eyes were open to unexpected people who came into my life at just the right time. I asked for help from family, friends, my life coach, and counselor. I followed my dream, but I didn’t do it alone. Many times, when people attempt to live their passion, large obstacles block their way and they stop moving toward what they desire. This is why, as Dr. Sherry Buffington (my amazing mentor and founder of Quantum Leap University) often talks about how the majority of people in society today do not realize their full potential and are not able to realize and appreciate their natural strengths and abilities. This is part of the reason why Dr. Buffington is following her dream of bringing great coaches into the world to help people realize their full potential.
Do you see beauty in the unexpected in your life? Be open to what your inner wisdom is telling you. Who are you destined to be? Are you living your dream? My passion is to help you find and live your dream! It’s time to make yourself a priority on your to-do list!
My wish for you is that you are able to see the beauty in the unexpected in your life.
Sending you hugs and blessings,
