Then, when you talk to another person who has a different idea, you pause your other work and start focusing on that. You’ve now created multiple half-built bridges. Always check back in with YOUR vision and ensure the ideas you are following keep you headed in the right direction – and allow you to fully build that bridge. Similarly, because you are your own “boss", you may get excited about ALL the things you CAN do – be cautious and don’t try to do everything, all at once. Maintain boundaries for yourself to ensure you are not turning your passion project into a burden. Stay true to your “why” and jot down those ideas from trusted colleagues and from your own self and revisit them when the time is right. The Benefits of Passion Projects. Listen to Your Body Our bodies often send subtle distress signals before we even realize we are stressed, anxious or overwhelmed. These can be internal, like a racing heart or shallow breathing, or manifest externally in our behavior. Are you snapping at loved ones or making uncharacteristic mistakes? Do you find yourself constantly on edge, flitting between tasks or talking a mile-a-minute? Even seemingly positive changes, like taking on too many exciting projects, can lead to overwhelm. It's crucial to recognize these signs, both physical and behavioral, as early warnings to take a step back and prevent burnout.
